The icipe Science Week 2025 serves as a platform to showcase icipe's research for development (R4D) excellence and its transformative impact on nature and society. The flagship event of this year’s Science Week is the official launch of icipe's Vision and Strategy 2026-2030, marking a pivotal moment in the institution's evolution and its commitment to future-focused research and development. This milestone event will set the strategic direction for icipe's next phase of growth and impact.

Through comprehensive programming featuring scientific presentations, interactive displays, and structured networking opportunities, the Science Week demonstrates icipe's commitment to advancing sustainable solutions that address critical challenges facing Africa and the global community. The Science Week serves as a strategic platform to amplify icipe's research achievements and partnership successes, positioning the institution as a leading voice in entomological research and its applications for sustainable development. It also aims to strengthen strategic collaborations among diverse stakeholders including government agencies, academic institutions, beneficiary communities, diplomatic missions, donor organizations, and private sector partners.

Ultimately, Science Week reinforces icipe’s mission to harness the power of science to improve the livelihoods of people and protect the environment, while building lasting partnerships that drive meaningful change across the continent and beyond.

      Day 1 sets the tone for the entire week and brings together the icipe staff community to officially commence the week-long celebration of scientific excellence while providing a comprehensive overview of the institution's research landscape and achievements. A key highlight of this day is the presentation of icipe's Vision and Strategy 2026-2030, offering staff an insightful preview of the institution's strategic direction.

      Day 4 is dedicated to science cafés, providing an informal and accessible platform for public engagement with icipe’s R&D activities. This will be held in a relaxed setting of a “coffee shop” with both in-person and a virtual audience. This will allow icipe scientists to discuss current research and implications on nature and society, in line with the science week and V&S theme. This presents an opportunity to enhance scientific literacy around insects and how their study impacts society, and the value to the environment.

      Day 5 presents the climax of the Science Week with the official launch of icipe's Vision and Strategy 2026-2030 as its centerpiece. This strategic milestone day begins by honoring scientific legacy through the inaugural TRO Lecture and celebrating current achievements through student recognition and stakeholder testimonials. The day also brings together distinguished science leaders, philanthropic partners, and continental representatives for a high-level panel discussion that explores on aspects of science leadership and the funding landscape in the context of several uncertainties (funding, climate ..).
